Propranolol is an antibiotic medication that needs to be taken for a stipulated period of time for it to be effective. Do not discontinue dosage suddenly without speaking to your doctor. Also, do not take the medication for a prolonged time period.

Try to take the medication at the same time everyday to avoid missing a dose. If you have missed a dose and it is almost time for the next dose, then skip the missed one and continue with the regular dosage. Alternatively, if you remember immediately, then you may take the missed dose. Never double up to compensate for a missed dose.

Side Effects
Mild side effects are commonly experienced while using Propranolol. They do not need medical treatment and usually subside on their own. Some examples are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach cramps; decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; sleep problems (insomnia); or tired feeling.

Serious side effects that need immediate medical assistance are rare.
Some of them are slow or uneven heartbeats; a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out; wheezing or trouble breathing; shortness of breath (even with mild exertion), swelling, rapid weight gain; sudden weakness, vision problems, or loss of coordination (especially in a child with hemangioma that affects the face or head); cold feeling in your hands and feet; depression, confusion, hallucinations; liver problems - nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); low blood sugar; low blood sugar in a baby; severe skin reaction.
