& Dosage

Deltasone is an antibiotic medication that needs to be taken for a stipulated period of time for it to be effective. Do not discontinue dosage suddenly without speaking to your doctor. Also, do not take the medication for a prolonged time period.

Try to take the medication at the same time everyday to avoid missing a dose. If you have missed a dose and it is almost time for the next dose, then skip the missed one and continue with the regular dosage. Alternatively, if you remember immediately, then you may take the missed dose. Never double up to compensate for a missed dose.


Store Deltasone at room temperature in a cool and dark place. Keep away from children and pets.

Mention complete and accurate details about existing medical conditions, known allergies to food or drugs, dietary supplements, vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements or OTC medications that you may be using.
Do not use Deltasone if:
You are allergic to it
You have a fungal infection on the body
Maintain caution while using Deltasone if:
You are scheduled to receive a live vaccine
You have hypothyroidism
You have liver or kidney problems
You have diabetes
You have ulcerative colitis
You have cardiac problems
You have esophagitis
You have gastritis
You have an obstruction or perforation in the stomach
You have a gastric ulcer
You have a history of mental problems, such as depression
You have a herpes infection in your eye or any other type of infection (bacterial, fungal, or viral)
You have or recently had tuberculosis (TB)
Maintain caution if you use the following drugs:
Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), carbamazepine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), or rifampin
Clarithromycin azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole), steroidal contraceptives (eg, desogestrel), or troleandomycin
Methotrexate or ritodrine
Hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), mifepristone, or live vaccines
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) or aspirin
Please be informed:
Deltasone can weaken your immunity level making you prone to infection. Avoid contact with people who have contagious infections like cold or cough. For at least a year after using Deltasone, avoid contact with people who have TB or chickenpox or any similar condition.
Deltasone has been known to cause mild to moderate hypertension. This may increase water retention and salt retention in the body. This may subsequently lead to potassium loss.
Deltasone increases the risk of osteoporosis by causing calcium loss. It is recommended that you use adequate Vitamin D supplements.
If you are scheduled to receive any live vaccine, then mention to your doctor that you are using Deltasone. Live vaccines are not allowed while using the medication.
People suffering from diabetes must monitor their blood sugar levels constantly while using Deltasone as it can cause the level to fluctuate.
Deltasone is a corticosteroid. These drugs are known to cause birth defects in children. Maintain caution while using them.
If you are pregnant, then you must contact your doctor to speak about using Deltasone. There may be risks or benefits that you need to be aware of. Deltasone is found in breast milk. Do not breast feed while using Deltasone.

Side Effects
Mild side effects are commonly experienced while using Deltasone. They do not need medical treatment and usually subside on their own. Some examples are difficulty sleeping; feeling of a whirling motion; increased appetite; increased sweating; indigestion; mood changes; nervousness.
If these side effects become bothersome or do not fade away after a while, then seek medical assistance.
Serious side effects that need immediate medical assistance are rare.
Some of them are severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); appetite loss; black, tarry stools; changes in menstrual periods; convulsions; depression; diarrhea; dizziness; exaggerated sense of well-being; fever; general body discomfort; headache; increased pressure in the eye; joint or muscle pain; mood swings; muscle weakness; personality changes; prolonged sore throat, cold, or fever; puffing of the face; severe nausea or vomiting; swelling of feet or legs; unusual weight gain; vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds; weakness; weight loss.
